About this specimen
A sharp peach-orange scheelite octahedron sits beside a spray of silvery muscovite mica in this specimen from Xuebaoding, Sichuan. The scheelite has a warm, translucent body with glassy faces, and the mica books flash pale silver against it. The supplier notes the whitish shimmer on the surface comes from light interference in the mica.
Minerals: Scheelite, muscovite mica
Locality: Xuebaoding, Sichuan, China
Approximate size: 3.2 × 2.7 × 2 cm / 32 × 27 × 20 mm / 1.26 × 1.06 × 0.79 in
Estimated weight: about 39 g / 1.38 oz
The supplier lists the size as "32.2 × 2.7 cm"; the photographs show a hand-held piece about 3.2 cm long, so we read this as about 3.2 × 2.7 cm. The 2.0 cm depth and the weight are visual estimates, not ruler or scale measurements.
