About this specimen
Xuebaoding, Sichuan, rutilated quartz at 8.8 cm and 112 g; a cabinet piece, priced with the tip disclosed. A stout smoky quartz crystal holding black rutile needles inside, the black-hair inclusion the supplier names, on a dark sulfide base; the supplier notes a slightly damaged tip.
Good quartz is about hexagonal prisms with clean terminations and the glassy lustre that lets a cluster catch light from every angle.
The Xuebaoding veins of Pingwu County, Sichuan, produced the orange scheelite and muscovite-aquamarine combinations that put Chinese minerals on the map.
The piece is cabinet in size, 3.6 × 2.5 × 8.8 cm (1.42 × 0.98 × 3.46 in) and 112 g (4.0 oz). Disclosed condition: a slightly damaged tip. The price reflects it and the photographs show the affected area. Condition is otherwise as photographed.
