About this specimen
Dimensions: 15.5 × 7.9 × 6.0 cm (6.10 × 3.11 × 2.36 in); longest edge 155 mm (6.10 in).
Shine a torch up through this Himalayan quartz point and a stack of faint white phantoms appears in the tip: ghost outlines of earlier growth stages, nested one inside another like a set of pyramids. In ordinary light the crystal reads as a clear, glassy point with fine white streaks across one face and a rough, naturally broken base touched with rust-brown staining.
The point is kept in its natural form. Warm sunlight gives it a soft peach glow in several photos, but the crystal itself is clear quartz. It displays well upright in a holder or laid along a shelf.
