About this specimen
Look into this polished Brazilian quartz sphere and a large skeletal iron-mineral inclusion appears, built of dark, stepped plates that shimmer metallic grey as the ball turns. Nearby sits a crystal-in-crystal, and sweeping rainbows open up across internal planes, the brightest a full-spectrum arc in the upper half.
The quartz itself is very clear, so every inclusion reads sharply, from the angular dark plates to a small brownish cluster near the top. Each turn reveals a different scene. Sized for the palm, it rests well on a small ring or stand and makes a fascinating desk piece.
