About this specimen
Shine a light through this Brazilian quartz and the blue needles appear at once, dense and orderly, fanning outward in sprays that collectors call angel feathers. They gather in two or three main bundles near the top and spread down through the sphere like the vanes of a quill.
The quartz itself is clear and transparent, which keeps the blue crisp rather than cloudy. Small white flecks sparkle along some of the sprays. The stone is has simply been cut and polished into a sphere that fits easily between finger and thumb. A flashlight or phone torch is all you need to see it at its best.
