About this specimen
A fan of pale smoky and warmer beige quartz points rises above a rough gray-brown matrix. Calcite and garnet are recorded among the associated minerals. Several longer crystals angle outward through the front, with narrower clear-looking points standing behind them. The alternate view shows broad pale faces near the lower edge and a taller point projecting from the center. Variations in color and crystal orientation give the fan a layered appearance above the much darker supporting material. Dimensions: 7 × 3.5 × 5 cm / 70 × 35 × 50 mm / 2.76 × 1.38 × 1.97 inch. Estimated weight: 162 g / 5.71 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
