여기서는 자수정 첨정 하나가 모든 일을 해냅니다. 모암 위로 경쾌한 각도로 솟아 있습니다. 결정 끝은 부드러운 포도빛 보라색인데 기둥의 3분의 1쯤 내려가면 거의 무색으로 빠지고, 각 면은 밝고 손상이 없습니다. 그 아래 모암은 황갈색 박편과 작은 무색 결정이 박힌 옅은 회록색 크러스트이며, 오른쪽 아래에서 더 작은 두 번째 보라색 첨정이 뚫고 나옵니다.
자수정의 색은 석영 격자에 붙들린 철이 모암의 천연 방사선에 의해 켜지면서 생깁니다. 이런 색중심은 성장 후반에 발달하는 경향이 있는데, 이 결정에서 보이는 그대로 보라색이 결정 끝 가까이에 몰리는 이유가 바로 그것입니다. 석영은 모스 경도 7로 단단해 특별한 관리가 필요 없지만, 오랜 직사광선은 여러 해에 걸쳐 자수정의 색을 옅게 만듭니다. 창가보다는 창에서 떨어진 선반이 더 친절합니다.
