파우더블루, 광물 진열장에서 자주 만나는 색은 아닙니다. 곧게 선 가는 청색 결정들이 이룬 둥근 반구가 이 윈난성 섬네일 표본의 앞면 대부분을 덮고 있으며, 결정 끝이 윤곽을 뚫고 나온 자리마다 표면이 벨벳처럼 보드랍고 살짝 보풀이 인 듯합니다. 그 아래와 뒤의 모암은 회백색 포도상이며, 왼쪽 어깨에는 검은 산화물이 딱지처럼 앉아 있고 옅은 푸른 기운이 색이 연한 암석 아래로 번져 내립니다.
방소다석은 대개 괴상의 푸른 암석으로 접하게 되며, 슬랩으로 켜거나 굴려 다듬어 구슬로 만드는 것이 보통입니다. 그래서 푸른색이 방사상의 섬유질 조직을 지닌 결정 로제트로 나타난 표본은 전혀 다른 이야기입니다. 백묵 같은 표면은 손기름을 쉽게 빨아들이고 그 뒤에는 잘 닦이지 않으므로, 회색 모암 쪽을 잡고 습기를 피해 두십시오.
섬네일 표본의 크기는 3.0 × 2.4 × 3.7 cm, 무게는 33 g이며, 사진에 보이는 투명 아크릴 큐브 위에 접착 점토로 앉혀져 있습니다. 그 사진 역시 이 표본 하나만을 담고 있습니다.
