꿀빛 주황색 스틸바이트가 이 푸젠성 표본 위에 두툼한 다발과 나비넥타이 모양으로 쌓여 있으며, 집합체 하나하나가 양 끝에서 벌어지는 납작한 판상 결정 묶음입니다. 색은 따뜻하게 흐릅니다. 판이 두꺼운 곳에서는 호박색이고, 얇아지는 곳에서는 더 옅어져 거의 버터스카치빛이 됩니다. 표면은 단단한 반짝임이 아니라 부드러운 진주광택을 냅니다. 그 아래 백색 모암에는 짙은 녹흑색 미세 결정이 점점이 박혀 있고, 오른쪽에는 무색의 석영 결정 몇 개가 몰려 있습니다.
스틸바이트는 비석의 일종으로, 화산암의 가스 공동에서 자라는 함수 칼슘·나트륨 알루미노규산염이며 바로 이런 다발 모양 습성으로 알려져 있습니다. 양 끝이 넓어지고 허리가 잘록해지는 결정입니다. 모스 경도 3.5~4 정도로 무르고 골격 안에 물을 품고 있으므로, 직사광선과 난방기에서 떨어뜨려 두십시오.
