About Huanggang Mine
Huanggang is Inner Mongolia's most important specimen-producing locality — a textbook iron-tin polymetallic skarn that yields fine datolite, ilvaite, fluorite, and a wide associated suite. Crystals are routinely large, sharp, and well-formed.
Mining History
The deposit has been mined since the late 20th century. Specimen recovery accelerated in the 2010s as the international skarn-mineral market grew. Huanggang is now considered one of the few modern type-localities for collectible ilvaite.
Signature Specimens
Pale yellow gemmy datolite clusters (often 5-15 cm), black bladed ilvaite crystals, fluorite cubes (purple to colorless), arsenopyrite, and fine löllingite associations.
Minerals Produced Here
