About Indiaextended article

What it is known for

The Deccan Traps, vast flood basalts covering much of Maharashtra, host one of the world's richest zeolite occurrences. Apophyllite, stilbite, heulandite, okenite and mesolite crystallise in gas cavities in the basalt and are recovered from quarries around Pune, Nashik and Jalgaon. In the north, Himalayan valleys such as Parvati in Himachal Pradesh produce clear and included quartz.

In our collection

Our Indian pieces include apophyllite with zeolites, stilbite spheres on basalt, quartz from Jalgaon and the Parvati Valley, and quartz on iridescent pyrite. Each listing shows the exact specimen photographed. Where the original label names only the country, we label it to country level rather than guess a quarry.
