About this specimen
Electric blue at a depth only azurite reaches: two bladed crystals dominate this Moroccan miniature, their glassy faces flashing sapphire and ultramarine as the piece turns. Along their flank runs a band of silky, fibrous malachite — azurite’s green alter ego, growing exactly where chemistry says it should — over a base of chocolate-brown gossan matrix.
The blue-green pairing is copper mineralogy’s signature duet, and Moroccan pockets deliver it with crystal quality that holds its own against the classic localities. On this piece the azurite keeps sharp edges and high luster, while the malachite adds a texture the eye reads as velvet.
