About this specimen

Yaogangxian blue-edged fluorite with mica at 195 g; a small cabinet piece with subtle colour zoning.

Fluorite is the classic collector's halide: calcium fluoride that grows as cubes, octahedra and stepped combinations, often with colour zoning that shows best in daylight.

Mica forms pearly hexagonal books that catch the light between the other crystals.

Yaogangxian Mine in Yizhang County is China's most famous mineral locality, a tungsten mine that has produced fine fluorite, arsenopyrite, quartz and cassiterite for three decades.

The piece is small cabinet in size, 7.7 × 5.8 × 5.2 cm (3.03 × 2.28 × 2.05 in) and 195 g (6.9 oz). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.

Each specimen is individually photographed and catalogued before it is listed.
