About this specimen
Dimensions: 24.0 × 6.3 × 5.0 cm (9.45 × 2.48 × 1.97 in); longest edge 240 mm (9.45 in).
A long Brazilian smoky quartz point in warm tea-brown tones, glowing amber where the sun passes through. Inside it holds a sheet of black mica and a white phantom, and thin white veils trace the edges of the prism. The faces are glossy, with a lightly frosted termination.
One side carries a crust of natural yellow-orange surface material, shown in the reverse photo, a reminder of where the crystal grew. In several photos it stands on a round dark-red display stand. Tall and slender, it has the presence of a small tower.
