About this specimen

The big calcite at the front of this Fujian plate is a squat, flat-topped crystal spanning a third of the piece, its faces meeting in blunt triangular bevels — the geometry behind the Mercedes-Benz nickname the habit carries in the trade. Three more crystals of the same milky, half-clear form ride the top and right edges, and everything between them is packed with a grey-white fur of small quartz needles that all but buries the dark matrix.

Calcite is CaCO3, Mohs 3, with perfect cleavage in three rhombohedral directions, so crystals this large coming off a druse-covered plate undamaged is not the usual outcome. Faint internal striping across the front crystal traces successive growth layers; the quartz below grew first and the calcite nucleated on top of it, two generations reading as one landscape.

The plate measures 11.4 × 8.9 × 4.3 cm and weighs 350 g, filling a palm as shown. No stand is fitted; the photographs were taken of this piece and no other.

Frequently asked questions

Will I receive the exact specimen shown?

Yes. Every specimen is a single, one-of-a-kind piece, and the photographs show the exact item you will receive — never a stock photo.

Yes — specimens like this form naturally. As is standard in the trade, some pieces are gently cleaned or trimmed; we photograph the actual specimen and describe its origin and condition conservatively.

How is it packed and shipped?

Orders ship worldwide with fully insured, tracked delivery, carefully packed to protect fragile crystals. A display base is included.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
