About this specimen
Clear-looking calcite crystals with white central areas sit above golden-brown siderite. Several pale forms cluster near the middle, while smaller ones extend onto the surrounding bladed brown growth. Broad reflections outline the clearer outer portions of the calcite. The closer photograph reveals the contrast between cloudy white centers and more transparent-looking edges, showing how the rounded pale crystals interrupt the angular layered texture of the warm-colored siderite beneath them. Dimensions: 5 × 2.6 × 3.7 cm / 50 × 26 × 37 mm / 1.97 × 1.02 × 1.46 inch. Estimated weight: 56 g / 1.98 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
