About this specimen
Shine a light through this polished clear quartz sphere and it fills with straight, dense blue needles, layered like angel feathers. Under the torch in most of the photos the whole ball turns a shimmering steel blue, with fine streaks running diagonally from edge to edge.
In ordinary daylight the effect is subtler: the sphere reads almost water-clear, with the needles visible as a faint haze, as the outdoor photos show. A few healed fracture planes and a curved internal plane add sparkle. It is a sphere that rewards a flashlight and a dark room.
