About this specimen

Guizhou, creedite with gypsum at 2.7 cm; a miniature, supplied in the display box shown. Gypsum is soft and water-soluble: keep it dry and never wash it. Fine colourless crystals of creedite and gypsum spread out to either side of a small yellow stone caught at the centre of the growth, the sprays flattened into a low, wide fan.

Creedite forms sprays and radiating clusters of slender prismatic crystals; the Qinglong material from Guizhou is the source collectors know best for the species.

Selenite-variety gypsum is transparent enough to read through and cleaves into thin sheets; keep it dry and out of direct sun.

Guizhou is the classic source for collector creedite and hosts important fluorite, calcite and copper-mineral localities around Qinglong.

Dimensions place it in the miniature range, 2.7 × 1.7 × 1 cm (1.06 × 0.67 × 0.39 in). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.

Delicate crystals: handle by the matrix only. Water-sensitive: keep dry and never wash.

Each specimen is individually photographed and catalogued before it is listed.
