About this specimen
Deep blue-violet fluorite crystals stand against a rough cream-colored matrix. Several broad dark faces cluster near the center, with smaller violet forms scattered along the outer edge. A pale projecting area separates two of the larger groups. The side photograph reveals the raised depth of the darker crystals and a shallow hollow in the supporting material. The strong color contrast gives this compact Fujian specimen a distinctly patterned front with clear divisions between mineral growth and matrix. Dimensions: 3.5 × 1.6 × 3 cm / 35 × 16 × 30 mm / 1.38 × 0.63 × 1.18 inch. Estimated weight: 18 g / 0.63 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
