Royal-purple fluorite cubes march down a ridge of snow-white dolomite on this 11 cm specimen, largest at the centre and shrinking toward both ends — a natural procession. The purple is deep enough to read almost black at the crystals’ cores and lights to violet at their edges, and every cube keeps a mirror-glassy face.
The white dolomite crust does the work a display case usually has to: pure white ground, hard-edged purple crystals, nothing else competing. Long, low specimens like this suit a shelf front where you look across them rather than down.
