About this specimen
Sichuan smoky quartz at 7.6 cm; a small cabinet floater. The supplier did not record a weight.
Smoky quartz owes its brown-to-black tone to natural irradiation of trace aluminium in the lattice, and the best pieces keep transparency through the colour.
Sichuan hosts Xuebaoding, Jinkouhe and Leshan, sources of aquamarine, scheelite, prehnite, gypsum and the epidote-quartz skarn specimens seen here.
By size it is small cabinet, 2.7 × 2.8 × 7.6 cm (1.06 × 1.10 × 2.99 in). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.
Each specimen is individually photographed and catalogued before it is listed.
