About this specimen
Lavender-blue fluorite forms the body of this Yaogangxian miniature, violet zoning bands drifting through its glassy mass, while snow-white calcite patches and clusters of brassy pyrite crystals decorate the upper faces — three minerals in three finishes: glass, chalk and metal.
The pyrite is the surprise: crisp little crystal groups perched exactly where a setter would have placed them, catching light against the cool fluorite. Natural, unpolished and untreated, as the pocket left it.
It measures 4.2 × 5.3 × 3.1 cm and weighs 150 g, sitting on the acrylic base shown. The photographs are of the exact specimen.
