About this specimen
Cream-coloured blades push out through the jaw and cheek of this skull, splayed like the end of a frayed rope — inclusions the carver worked around instead of cutting away, matte and pale rather than metallic. The fluorite itself is quiet in tone: greyish celadon over most of the head, warming to lilac at the crown and temple, with a faint pink seam curving above the ear. Sockets, nasal cavity and a full row of squared teeth are cut cleanly.
Nothing here is dyed or stabilised. The drift from grey-green to lilac is growth zoning in the original block, sliced through at whatever angle the carving demanded, and the blades record a second mineral that was already growing when the fluorite closed around it. Fluorite is Mohs 4 with four perfect cleavage directions, so this belongs on a shelf rather than in the hand of every visitor.
