About this specimen
Pale celadon octahedra sit like blunt arrowheads across this Fujian plate, dozens of them, each a small green double pyramid, many of them grown edge to edge in short chains. Beneath and between them the fluorite darkens to a bruised violet-grey, and a fine white druse creeps over the ridges and into the hollows. The green faces stay soft and semi-transparent; the darker base gives nothing back.
The octahedron is the less common face of a species most collectors first meet as cubes, and Fujian delivers it on plates like this one with the two-tone habit intact. Fluorite is Mohs 4 and cleaves perfectly along exactly those octahedral directions, so a knock takes a clean triangular flake rather than a chip.
The plate measures 11.9 × 11.4 × 5.1 cm and weighs 326 g, and shows best tilted back so light rakes the whole face at once. No stand is fitted. What you see in the photographs is the plate that will ship to you.
