About this specimen

A white crust covers almost everything on this Fujian piece, and the fluorite surfaces through it only in patches: a pale lilac cube face here, a group of darker grey-violet ones there, a shadowed recess the coating never reached. The crust is drusy quartz, thousands of minute points scattering the light and giving the cluster a frosted, sugared texture rather than a glassy one. Sharp cube edges still show beneath it.

This is a two-stage specimen, worth reading in order. The fluorite crystallised first, building the cubes; later, silica-bearing fluid moved through the same pocket and dusted every exposed surface with quartz. The effect divides collectors — it hides transparency but records the sequence plainly, and the frosting shields soft fluorite (Mohs 4) under a harder shell. Backlight it: the lilac wakes where the crust is thinnest.

Overall size is 5.3 × 5.3 × 3.8 cm, weight 116 g. It has a natural flat break at the rear and needs no stand; none is supplied. These pictures are of the cluster that will be shipped to you.
