About this specimen

Ink-dark violet fluorite shows through a crust of sugary cream druse in torn ribbons, as though a snow cover had been peeled back in strips. Where the crust breaks, the fluorite reads almost black in the shade and hardens to grape-violet wherever light catches an edge; a few tan carbonate flakes sit in the hollows. Nothing here is polished — every surface is as it grew.

Guizhou fluorite runs to this end of the purple range, so saturated that a lamp behind the specimen does more for it than a lamp above. The pale crust is a later generation of crystal that spread across the fluorite once it had formed, and it is what gives the piece its texture: matte and granular against the fluorite’s glassy faces. Fluorite is CaF2, Mohs 4, with perfect cleavage in four directions — hold it by the crusted matrix and keep it clear of hard knocks.

It measures 6.6 × 2.3 × 5.3 cm and weighs 105 g, easily palmed. The photographs on this listing are of the piece described, held in the hand for scale; it ships without a stand.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
