About this specimen
A doubly-terminated quartz crystal loaded with golden rutile needles crowns this Himalayan matrix plate, its interior a suspended storm of metallic threads, chlorite clouds and iron-stained patches. Below it, smaller prisms — some water-clear, some smoky with inclusions — emerge from the ochre-tan matrix at scattered angles.
Included quartz is a study genre of its own: every crystal here is a sealed terrarium of the fluids and minerals that shared its growth. The main crystal rewards a loupe, its rutile running in golden bundles against green chlorite.
From the Himalayan region (specific mine not confirmed — sold as received). The plate measures 9.3 × 6.9 × 6.6 cm and weighs 220 g. The photos show the exact piece.
