About this specimen

Chartreuse crystals swarm one whole side of this upright Guangxi specimen — short hexagonal barrels of pyromorphite, hundreds of them, packed into ridges and knots that take the light in a granular, almost mossy way. Tan and ochre blades of weathered matrix cut diagonally across the growth, and a dark cavity opens near the centre where the crust parts.

Pyromorphite is lead chlorophosphate, Pb5(PO4)3Cl, formed in the oxidised zone above lead deposits where phosphate-bearing groundwater attacks galena. That lead content is why a piece this size feels heavier in the hand than it looks. The yellow-green colour is intrinsic rather than any kind of coating, and the barrel habit — slightly wider at the ends than at the waist — is a signature of the species.

An upright, compact piece, standing on white putty over a clear acrylic block. The piece in the photographs is the one that will be packed for you.

Frequently asked questions

Will I receive the exact specimen shown?

Yes. Every specimen is a single, one-of-a-kind piece, and the photographs show the exact item you will receive — never a stock photo.

Is this Pyromorphite natural?

Yes — specimens like this form naturally. As is standard in the trade, some pieces are gently cleaned or trimmed; we photograph the actual specimen and describe its origin and condition conservatively.

How is it packed and shipped?

Orders ship worldwide with fully insured, tracked delivery, carefully packed to protect fragile crystals. A display base is included.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
