About this specimen

The green comes first, but the purple holds the eye: cube after cube on this Inner Mongolia plate wears a thin violet hem along its upper edges, laid like piping over bottle-green faces. The crystals stack into low stepped terraces across the whole front, hundreds of them, climbing toward one darker block at the upper left. White granular crusts crowd the gaps, and a seam of near-black rock runs out at the lower corner.

Zoning like this is a record of the plumbing. Fluorite, CaF2, takes its colour from trace elements and lattice defects rather than from any single chromophore, so a shift in the fluid late in growth can hang a violet skin on a green crystal and change nothing else. Mohs 4 and four directions of perfect cleavage mean the corners chip easily — lift the plate by its base, never by a crystal.

7.6 × 2.5 × 5.1 cm and 215 g, flat-backed enough to stand upright unaided; no base is included. These photographs were taken of this plate and no other.

Frequently asked questions

Will I receive the exact specimen shown?

Yes. Every specimen is a single, one-of-a-kind piece, and the photographs show the exact item you will receive — never a stock photo.

Is this Fluorite natural?

Yes — specimens like this form naturally. As is standard in the trade, some pieces are gently cleaned or trimmed; we photograph the actual specimen and describe its origin and condition conservatively.

How is it packed and shipped?

Orders ship worldwide with fully insured, tracked delivery, carefully packed to protect fragile crystals. A display base is included.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
