About this specimen

A flat triangular plate, sawn from a geode wall and left rough along its edges, carries an eye engraved into its darkest quarter: lid, lashes and brow cut in shallow relief, with a polished black bead set into the socket as the pupil. Off to the right the same slab breaks into a field of tiny lilac-grey druzy crystals, a reminder that this began as the lining of a cavity.

The dark, speckled body of the plate is ore-bearing rock; the agate and chalcedony that line the cavity are cryptocrystalline quartz, SiO2, at Mohs 6.5 to 7 — hard enough for the engraver to cut clean lines without the stone crumbling at the edge of the tool. Work of this kind is normally laid out on the flattest face of a broken geode so the crystal-lined zone survives untouched beside the design.

The plate measures 9.1 × 8.6 × 2.3 cm and weighs 184 g. It comes with the clear acrylic post stand shown, which holds the triangle upright and lets light reach the druse. Engraving, bead and druzy corner: you receive the exact plate photographed.

About Agate

Agate is a banded variety of microcrystalline quartz (chalcedony) recognized for its concentric or parallel color zoning. Specimens come from volcanic and sedimentary host rocks worldwide, with notable Chinese, Brazilian, and Mexican sources favored by collectors.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
