About this specimen
Sichuan epidote at 5.5 cm and 45 g; a small cabinet floater. A cluster of dark green epidote in large, glossy crystals grown free as a floater the supplier notes.
Epidote forms pistachio-green prismatic crystals, often striated, and is a classic companion of quartz and feldspar in Chinese skarn deposits.
Sichuan hosts Xuebaoding, Jinkouhe and Leshan, sources of aquamarine, scheelite, prehnite, gypsum and the epidote-quartz skarn specimens seen here.
The piece is small cabinet in size, 3.5 × 2.1 × 5.5 cm (1.38 × 0.83 × 2.17 in) and 45 g (1.6 oz). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
