About this specimen
Yunnan hemimorphite at 2.6 cm; a miniature, supplied in the display box shown. Hemimorphite in pale mint green covers the face of a brown rock in a fine botryoidal crust, the rounded growths stepping down the piece in low tiers.
Hemimorphite is a zinc silicate that forms fan-shaped sprays of bladed crystals or botryoidal blue crusts; both forms are represented in Chinese and Mexican material.
Yunnan is China's most mineralogically diverse province, source of the pyromorphite, azurite and blue aragonite that have become collector favourites.
The piece is miniature in size, 2.6 × 1.6 × 1.4 cm (1.02 × 0.63 × 0.55 in). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.
