About this specimen
Mexico wulfenite at 0.7 cm; a thumbnail. A single tabular wulfenite crystal in a clear orange, its square outline set on a small patch of dark matrix, with the flat face catching a resinous shine.
Wulfenite is lead molybdate, forming thin, square, orange to yellow tabular crystals with an adamantine lustre; wash hands after handling.
Mexico is one of the world's great mineral countries, from Chihuahua's selenite and desert roses to the sulfides of Naica and Santa Eulalia.
By size it is thumbnail, 0.7 × 0.7 × 0.7 cm (0.28 × 0.28 × 0.28 in). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
