About this specimen
Pink rhodochrosite forms fan-like growth beside a pale purple fluorite face. Small white crystals and darker metallic areas fill the supporting matrix; quartz, pyrite, galena and dolomite are also recorded in the association. The broad pink upper section is balanced by the smoother violet area lower on one side. A closer photograph reveals fine lines within the rhodochrosite and the scattered pale details around the darker mineral base. Dimensions: 3.5 × 1.8 × 3.2 cm / 35 × 18 × 32 mm / 1.38 × 0.71 × 1.26 inch. Estimated weight: 19 g / 0.67 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
