About this specimen
Purple rhodochrosite crystals emerge through snow-white dolomite and quartz from Wuzhou, Guangxi. Blocky violet forms appear in several pockets, with one larger crystal near the upper edge and smaller purple faces visible through openings in the white matrix. Fine quartz sparkle adds texture around the carbonate crystals. The alternate view shows the group wrapping around a slender upright base and reveals more color beneath the pale covering. Dimensions: 3.4 × 1.6 × 2.4 cm / 34 × 16 × 24 mm / 1.34 × 0.63 × 0.94 inch. Estimated weight: 10 g / 0.35 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
