About this specimen

Look past the colour and it is the texture that holds you: a late crust of dark violet micro-cubes, most under a millimetre, dusted across the broad stepped faces of an earlier and paler generation of fluorite. Where the crust thins the underlying crystal shows through as smoky amethyst; where it thickens along the ridges the purple deepens almost to black. A few milky white patches interrupt the coating on one flank.

Two generations sit on one piece: the large blocky cubes grew first and slowly, from a cooling fluorine-rich solution; the fine crust came later and faster, nucleating on every available face at once. The chemistry is CaF2 throughout — only the crystal size records how sharply the pocket changed. At Mohs 4 with perfect cleavage in four directions, the micro-crust is the fragile part: dust it with a soft brush, never a cloth.

Measuring 6.6 × 3.8 × 4.3 cm and weighing 120 g, it settles on its flat underside, no base required. These photographs were taken of this individual specimen.

Frequently asked questions

Will I receive the exact specimen shown?

Yes. Every specimen is a single, one-of-a-kind piece, and the photographs show the exact item you will receive — never a stock photo.

Is this Fluorite natural?

Yes — specimens like this form naturally. As is standard in the trade, some pieces are gently cleaned or trimmed; we photograph the actual specimen and describe its origin and condition conservatively.

How is it packed and shipped?

Orders ship worldwide with fully insured, tracked delivery, carefully packed to protect fragile crystals. A display base is included.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
