About this specimen

Brassy pyrite fills the display face of this Peruvian specimen almost entirely — blocky cubes and pyritohedra, the largest better than a centimetre across, their faces ruled with fine parallel striations that shift from gold to bronze as the piece turns in the hand. Colourless quartz points wedge into the gaps between them, one clear blade rising past the upper edge, and a straw-yellow matrix shows along the lower right.

Those striations are pyrite’s signature. Iron sulphide (FeS2) grew here with the cube and the pyritohedron competing in fine alternating steps, leaving a ruled finish that runs at right angles as it crosses from one face to the next. Peru is the source most collectors think of first for pyrite this sharp and this bright. Keep the specimen dry; humidity is the one thing that dulls a fresh sulphide.

The piece measures 5.0 × 4.5 × 4.0 cm and weighs 105 g. These frames are of the specimen itself, which sits upright on its trimmed base with no mount.

Frequently asked questions

Will I receive the exact specimen shown?

Yes. Every specimen is a single, one-of-a-kind piece, and the photographs show the exact item you will receive — never a stock photo.

Is this Pyrite natural?

Yes — specimens like this form naturally. As is standard in the trade, some pieces are gently cleaned or trimmed; we photograph the actual specimen and describe its origin and condition conservatively.

How is it packed and shipped?

Orders ship worldwide with fully insured, tracked delivery, carefully packed to protect fragile crystals. A display base is included.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
