About this specimen

Hundreds of small quartz crystals radiate outward from a shared core here, packing so tightly that the mass rounds into a ball bristling in every direction. Each termination is sharp and glassy; between them the interior shows through in a cooler grey, so the piece reads pale and frosted at the rim and shadowed toward the middle. It is mounted upright on a clear acrylic block.

Aggregates like this begin at a single nucleation point in an open cavity: the crystals grow outward, compete for room, and end up splayed into a hemisphere or a full sphere depending on how much of the pocket they were given. Quartz (SiO2) is Mohs 7 and chemically stubborn, so the material itself is durable — but the individual points are needle-fine and will snap if the piece is rolled across a hard surface. Lift it by the base.

The ball measures 3.8 × 3.3 × 2.5 cm and weighs 26 g. What the camera saw is what the box will hold: this ball, on this block.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
