About this specimen
A rounded plate covered in raspberry-red cobaltoan calcite, the surface built from small glassy rhombs so it sparkles, with a darker base along the bottom edge. The colour is called red-meat cobalt calcite; it fluoresces under a UV torch, as the photos show.
Moroccan cobaltoan calcite at 224 g in an unusually deep red; most cobalt calcite is pink, and this shade is the one collectors chase.
It measures 8.5 × 6.4 × 3.7 cm (3.35 × 2.52 × 1.46 in) and weighs 224 g (7.9 oz), a cabinet-sized piece that makes a strong centrepiece on a shelf or in a display case. Sold exactly as photographed; any known repair, mount, treatment or condition note is disclosed in this listing.
