About this specimen
Vivid red-pink cobaltoan calcite fills a shallow band of matrix from the DR Congo. Dark green atacamite blades and granular copper-mineral growth interrupt the bright calcite, creating strong complementary color contrast. The close photograph reveals translucent-looking pink areas alongside deeper red patches and narrow green crystals. The broader view shows the mineralized zone running across an elongated host rather than forming a single isolated cluster. Dimensions: 4.8 × 1.6 × 2.3 cm / 48 × 16 × 23 mm / 1.89 × 0.63 × 0.91 inch. Estimated weight: 14 g / 0.49 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
