About this specimen

India red hematoid quartz at 4.1 cm; a miniature. A large quartz point rises above a group of smaller crystals, the whole piece tinted a soft rose pink by fine iron inclusions with the colour strongest through the body of the main crystal.

Hematoid quartz is coloured by hematite inclusions, giving it a warm red-to-orange body colour that intensifies in strong light.

India's Deccan basalts around Pune and Nashik are the world's source of apophyllite, stilbite and other zeolite specimens.

Dimensions place it in the miniature range, 4.1 × 2.8 × 2 cm (1.61 × 1.10 × 0.79 in). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.

Each specimen is individually photographed and catalogued before it is listed.
