Honey-gold scheelite in parallel growth: several dipyramids grown as one, their triangular faces terraced with growth steps that break light into ranks of tiny mirrors. The color deepens to amber where the crystal thickens, and a trace of silvery mica at the base signs the specimen’s Xuebaoding origin.
Scheelite (CaWO4) is dense far beyond its looks — 184 g in a crystal that fits in a closed hand — and under shortwave UV it answers with the species’ electric blue-white glow. Terraced golden crystals like this are the signature the mountain in Pingwu County, Sichuan, is collected for.
