About this specimen
A slender smoky quartz crystal rises as a complete free-growing form with small spessartine garnets attached near its lower half. The quartz is transparent-looking brown, with vertical surface lines and a pointed termination. Deep red-brown garnet crystals provide concentrated accents on opposite sides, while pale feldspar remains near the base. Two views show the narrow profile and the way the garnets sit against the tall central crystal without obscuring its outline. Dimensions: 1.2 × 1.1 × 3.7 cm / 12 × 11 × 37 mm / 0.47 × 0.43 × 1.46 inch. Estimated weight: 6 g / 0.21 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
