About this specimen
This polished smoky quartz piece is cut as a half sphere, a smooth dome with a flat base. The quartz is a light, very clear smoky tone, and looking down through the dome you can see layered white phantoms rising in chevron-like ridges, the "silver mountains" that give the piece its character.
Rainbows flash along a fracture near the top, glittering specks drift through the middle, and the flat base gives a clear window into the interior from below.
