About this specimen
Scattered through this very transparent Brazilian smoky quartz are hundreds of small green phantom flecks, spread like stars across a night sky. Some gather into clusters and short drifts near the base, others float alone, and the light smoky tone of the quartz gives them a dark backdrop.
A pair of rainbows sits low on one side, and the sphere's high clarity means the flecks appear at different depths as you turn it, giving it a real sense of space. It is well polished. At 9 cm across it is a substantial display sphere that rewards close looking.
