About this specimen
Hold this fluorite up to a window and the inside turns into architecture: ghost-cubes stacked one within another, their outlines drawn in violet ink across a paler lilac body. The outer surfaces repeat the same idea in relief — hoppered, stair-stepped faces that climb the specimen in tiny glassy terraces above a deep grape-purple core.
Those internal outlines are phantoms, growth surfaces where the crystal paused, took on a trace of iron-stained material and then carried on. Because fluorite (CaF2) builds cube on cube along the same three axes, every pause survives as a perfectly square shadow, and the terraced exterior is simply the last of those layers left unfinished. At Mohs 4 with perfect octahedral cleavage, hold it by the body and never by a projecting step.
The piece runs 7.6 × 5.8 × 7.6 cm and weighs 325 g, sized for one hand and best shown with light coming through it. It arrives without a stand. What you see photographed here is the specimen that will be packed and sent to you.
