About this specimen
A single stout quartz crystal with a strawberry-red hematite phantom filling most of its body, standing on a small base of white quartz druse with a smaller red crystal beside it. The red glows when back-lit.
Shanxi strawberry red-phantom quartz, a 20 g thumbnail where the colour sits inside the crystal rather than on the surface.
It measures 4 × 3.1 × 3 cm (1.57 × 1.22 × 1.18 in) and weighs 20 g (0.7 oz), a miniature-sized piece that fits a miniature cabinet or a desk display.
