About this specimen

Xuebaoding, Sichuan, cathedral quartz at 9.5 cm and 580 g; a cabinet piece, priced with the damage disclosed. A cluster of tan-tinted cathedral quartz crystals with stepped faces rising from a golden-brown matrix; the supplier notes the tips are damaged.

Cathedral quartz stacks sub-parallel terminations up the prism, giving the crystal a spired, architectural outline.

Xuebaoding in Pingwu County is the classic Chinese source of scheelite, aquamarine and cassiterite on muscovite, mined from high-altitude greisen veins.

Dimensions place it in the cabinet range, 7.1 × 8.5 × 9.5 cm (2.80 × 3.35 × 3.74 in) and 580 g (20.5 oz). Disclosed condition: damaged tips. The price reflects it and the photographs show the affected area. The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.

Each specimen is individually photographed and catalogued before it is listed.
