About this specimen

Pakistani topaz with quartz at 11.3 cm and 311 g; a cabinet piece with two dominant crystals.

Topaz forms glassy prismatic crystals with a perfect basal cleavage; colourless to pale blue material from pegmatites is the collector standard.

Good quartz is about hexagonal prisms with clean terminations and the glassy lustre that lets a cluster catch light from every angle.

The pegmatites of northern Pakistan are a leading source of gem-crystal specimens: aquamarine, topaz, fluorite and quartz.

The piece is cabinet in size, 11.3 × 7.2 × 4.6 cm (4.45 × 2.83 × 1.81 in) and 311 g (11.0 oz). Condition is otherwise as photographed.

Each specimen is individually photographed and catalogued before it is listed.
