About this specimen
Fluffy, snow-white aragonite crystals cover the upper half of the piece in soft tufts and one upright spire, sitting on a base of pale golden-yellow calcite and creamy matrix. Collectors nickname this Guizhou material jade-rabbit, after the white-on-yellow look.
The two carbonates grew in sequence here, aragonite over calcite, which is why the white sits so cleanly on the yellow. Delicate and light for its size; handle by the base.
It measures 8.9 × 6.8 × 6.5 cm (3.50 × 2.68 × 2.56 in) and weighs 152 g (5.4 oz), a cabinet-sized piece that makes a strong centrepiece on a shelf or in a display case. Sold exactly as photographed; any known repair, mount, treatment or condition note is disclosed in this listing.
